Home Sweet Home!

Home Sweet Home!

Saturday, March 11, 2006

It was a long time coming but the decision to sell our house and everything we own was alway on the back of my mind. I have always played with the notion of being on the road and living in an RV but never found someone who shared that same dream.
That all changed when I met my husband, Swil Kanim. He is a violinist and storyteller and has always dreamed of being a full time RV'er.
We have been married almost 3 years and always dream and talk about what it would be like and how nice it will be "when" we get our RV.
In February we finally both surrendered to letting go of our house. I believe it has been much harder for me than for Swil Kanim as I have been in this house for over 10 years. I have been hanging onto keeping our home and someday having enough money to purchase an RV.
This, of course, would take years!!
I have been struggling for years to make the mortgage payments on this house and have finally opened my eyes to the fact that it is too heavy a burden.
Also, my husband has a tremendous gift that needs to be shared. I can't just keep him all to myself in our little community. He has a gift of helping and healing people with his stories and his music. I can't wait to see and experience this all over the country.
Once this decision was made and we were both comfortable with the decision, a big weight was lifted off my shoulders. I am so excited to start this adventure.
A lot of work is ahead. The house has to be prepared to be put on the market. I have to purge all our belongings......this is the hard part!! We will be living in a very small 24ft motorhome.
This leaves very little room for STUFF!!
I have accumulated a lot of STUFF over the years and it will not be easy to go thru it all.
I have already taken 90% of my clothes to the local shelters, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.
I am finding it very hard to let go of some personal items. I realize that there is a sickness in the "packrat" in me. I place too much personal value on items. This makes getting rid of things VERY DIFFICULT!!
That is why I have decided to write this 'blog' of my journey to cleansing the JUNK out of my life. There will be hard times along the way but it will be interesting to see the progress.
I will leave with my favorite saying: DO YOUR BEST, and PRAY ITS BLESSED and let the GREAT SPIRIT take care of the rest!!
